Hachee is a traditional stew based on cubes of meat, fish or poultry, and vegetables. The tradional stew which is based on beef, onions, flour, stock and acid (usually vinegar and wine) is considered typical Dutch cuisine.
Just add 2 large onions + 500 g beef stewing meat (rundderlappen) Peel the onions, halve them and cut them into half rings. Cut the meat into cubes. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a frying pan and brown the meat. Fry the onions for a few minutes. Then add 300 ml of water. Let it stew on low heat with the lid on the pan for about 1.5 to 2 hours, until the meat is soft. Then add another 200 ml of water and the contents of this sachet. Bring to the boil while stirring and let it simmer for another 15 minutes. stew gently. Serve the with mashed potatoes or boiled potatoes.
