Sprinkles (Hagel) - Dark Choc

Did you know that chocolate sprinkles are a typical Dutch sandwich filling - almost impossible to buy in other countries?   Delicious sprinkles have so many uses ~ on your toast or ice cream is just one of them!  Sprinkle on a yummy bagel!  Do you know how the name sprinkles came up? The inventor of this delicious sandwich spread looked outside on a bleak autumn day and saw a hail storm. The name hagelslag was born!!  

Use it on your bread, like the Dutchies do, or use it for decoration on your freshly baked pies and cakes or even on your ice cream. The Dutchies also eat this on their "beschuit", crackers and some even use it on top of their peanut butter!

Chocolate sprinkles or hagelslag as they are called in The Netherlands are named after hail, a prominent weather phenomenon in the rainy Dutch climate.
